Former Axis PE CEO joins U.S. Based Gerken Capital Associates
Bangalore: Former CEO of the Axis Private Equity has been appointed as the Senior Advisor and Managing Director of the U.S. based Gerken Capital Associates [GCA]. He will be heading its EMF-VII, which is an emerging markets private equality fund. Alok Gupta has done his MBA from the Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining Axis PE in the year 2006, he had worked as the Director of Global Steel, which is the holding company of the Ispat Group of the Mittal family. He was also one of the partner and MD at Asia Equity Infrastructure Fund, which is a $355 million fund set up by the Asian Development Bank, AMP, Axa, CDP and Nippon Life, reports Reghu Balakrishnan from Business Standard.
Alok was also the Director of Hughes Telecom India and was a member of its audit, supervisory and compensation committees. Gupta shared his opinion with the Business Standard about his new position. He feels GCA is a remarkable emerging market investor and he would like to bring all his experience to help realize GCA and EMF's goals. Meanwhile Arun Prakash Korati, will replace Alok Gupta, as the new CEO of the Axis Private Equity. He had joined this company in the year 2007 and is currently working as the Executive Director of the company. He was actively involved in the strategic and investment decisions of the company, reports Moneycontrol.com.
