Ford to Appoint 700 People in India this Year
Bangalore: Ford Company has made plans to recruit 700 people for its two units namely the Ford India and Ford Global Business Services for 2012.
The company has already recruited about 90 B-school graduates and 45 Engineering graduate trainees till now, and it has all the plans to increase its staff by 700 people by this year end, reports Anumeha Chaturvedi from the Economic Times.
Despite a slowing passenger car market, recent employee protests at its Chennai branch and with its strong competition, the company seems to be calm by attrition.
Dhananjay Nair, the General Manager of the Human Resources at Ford India said that, for their company, retaining the workforce is not an issue as the company’s attrition rate is at 6 percent which is less than 50 percent of the market rate.
Of the 45 engineering graduate trainees who have been hired this year, a considerable amount has been recruited at Sanand for the manufacturing operations. Other than recruiting for manufacturing sector, the company is also recruiting for other functions like the HR, Finance, purchasing and IT.
Dhananjay Nair also said that the existing branch at Chennai would also become a pool of talent for Sanand. He added that, the Ford employer brand has been very strong at Chennai and they need to test it out in Sanand as well in the future days.
