Firms want 'already employed' professionals
Bangalore: It may be surprising to see a particular line mentioned in a vacancy announcement 'only the employed need to apply' while searching for a job. Many firms recently have indicated that they would prefer to fill vacant positions with passive candidates - who are already employed as opposed to active ones. Post recession, companies are increasingly interested only in applicants who already have a job, because according to them, these survivors are usually the top performers, say experts. And this resulted in a vast talented pool going jobless. Those who survived the rough weather somehow assumed the 'winner' status. This is precisely why some recruiters now seem to be gunning for them than the ones who lost their bit and are seeking jobs currently. According to Manmohan R, CEO, SaiCoreS, the trend is visible, post recession, as passive job seekers are trained, experienced and 'quality' candidates who save an organization's money, otherwise invested on training active job seekers. In a fast growing economy like India, the employed mass has to grow. It is therefore impossible for employers, particularly large ones, to focus only on 'already employed' resources. It can be also the process were we usually try to strike a balance between people new to the industry and people who are experienced.
