Family Businesses Becoming Liberal, Good or Bad?

According to that survey, just around 15 percent of the respondents were of the opinion that they wanted only their family members to take up the higher positions. 18 percent of the overall respondents were the first generation entrepreneurs and the respondents from the metro cities of Mumbai and Bangalore were the people who were more tending to have people in the leadership positions from outside the organizations.

Around 16 percent and 14 percent of the respondents gave their opinion in terms of decision making and execution. They wanted to have the top leaders who are capable of taking smart decisions and completing the tasks efficiently. Other factors which they looked upon in an efficient leader were of the planning, valuing and following the company’s ethics.

Satya Bansal also added that as the importance of corporate governance and professional values are increasing in a rapid way, the need for professionals is being felt by all the family business in the country. The main factors that were looked upon in the process of choosing the next successors included the decision making and the capability of enhancing the business prospects and the other factors which were given prominence were the networking abilities and business intelligence. 13 percent of the respondents considered corporate governance as the key factor in deciding the successor.
