Ex Division Manager likely to take over as the CEO of Philips

Amsterdam: Royal Philips Electronics, plans to appoint Frans van Houten, the ex head of the company's semiconductor division, as the CEO and replace the current CEO Gerard Kleisterlee.
Philip's consumer electronics division and the computer chip arm received guidance under Houten until it was taken over by NXP Semiconductors in 2006. He has previously worked with Dutch financial services, ING Group (Internationale Nederlanden Groep) where he supervised its banking and insurance departments.
Rejoining Royal Philips Electronics, Houten will work in close asociation with Kleisterlee before he assumes the firm's top responsibility.
Kleisterlee stated that, "Frans was a strong member of my team and a strong contributor in setting the direction of the company, under his leadership Philips's future will be in good hands."
