E-tailers to Hire More IITians and IIMites
Bangalore: Indian E-commerce sector provides more job opportunities as they double the employee strength. ET Bureau reports that online retailers had already doubled the number of staff during this year and is looking forward to increase another half by next year. Reportedly India has 11 million people who do online purchasing. It is not amazing as Internet gifts a virtual world to engage. From food to household items are available online today. Who cares to queue for getting tickets? E-tickets are there. As the number of e-consumers increase, there should be the back support for e-business. The number of e-buyers will be rising to 38 million by 2015, Avendus Capital, a financial services firm reported. An increase of 35 percent will be happening by 2015 to 11.8 billion.
Indian based online retailer, Snapdeal is a big hit in the e-business. Starting as a small online business platform in 2010 February, it has bagged several awards in its development as India’s number one e-commerce site. The company owns 10,000 storekeeping units today. Recently the company appointed 50 IITians and 15 from other top internationally famed universities like Stanford and Columbia. And will be hiring more IITians on next year Rohit Bansal said to ET Bureau.
"Manpower requirement is linear to business volume. I am hiring round the year with business growing ten-fold over same time last year. Of the 1,100-member team, 800 were roped in this fiscal," Manmohan Agarwal, CEO of Yebhi.com said to ET reporters. Yebhi.com will be doubling their workforce strength by the end of December 2012. They had appointed around 25 employees from IITs and IIMs in top executive level.
The payment for a senior-executive is around 75 -80 lakhs, for mid-level 60 lakhs and the junior executives are paid 16-18 lakhs, a consulting firm Elixir mentioned. E-shopping windows are now in a great transformation period, as the internet users are increasing in a year by one-third. The firm mentioned that more than 30,000 people already hired on the present financial year and it is expected to surplus the number to one lakh.
Krishna Motukuri, CEO of Tradus.in told that the sector is witnessing a battle for brains. We are looking out for innovative software engineers, creative designers and product managers who understand consumer behaviour so that e-shopping is delightful. It is not a surprising trend as the possibilities of e-business increase. Comparing the conventional trade growth, e-business is in a rapid growth of three times higher. There are so many e-tailing ventures such as Allschoolstuff.com, Infibeam.com, tradekeyindia.com, ebay.com and Indiamart.com.
