Dayananda Sagar during 1962. The work commenced by Sri. Dayananda Sagar is now being taken forward to greater heights by his sons Dr. D. Hemachandra Sagar Chairman and Dr. D. Premachandra Sagar Vice Chairman. DSCE which started in 1979 with a humble beginning of four departments has now grown into an institution of national importance with fourteen UG courses. The students have a wide range of choice from the traditional branches Civil, Mechanical to the Hi-tech branches like IT & BT. The DSCE is spread over a 30 acre plot in the heart of the city with lush greenery. The departments are atheistically designed to ensure high degree efficiency in the teaching / learning process. The environment is ideally suited for academic work. Besides undergraduate courses DSCE has also PG programmes in fourteen branches. Twelve in Engineering, one each in MBA and MCA. There are seven research centers and exclusive centre in Research Industry Interaction. All the departments are headed by outstanding academicians. The labs are well equipped and continuously updated to meet the changing requirement in the syllabus and also for research work. There are more than 44 doctorates in various departments besides a large number of senior faculty comprising of Professors and Asst. Professors. There are 346 teaching and 210 non teaching members. There are 4214 UG & 461 PG students in the campus. Outstation students are accommodated in the hostels. An exclusive hostel of international standards is also available to the students. Excellent infrastructure by way of Medical facilities, Transportation facilities and wi-fi is available in the campus. Sports facilities of a high order and an amphi theatre, gymnasium, food courts are all available for the students. DSCE has a large number of students from China, Middle East etc. In order to ensure students remain on track a student Councilor / Proctor is put in place. A faculty member is put in charge of about ten students. This proctor is virtually a guardian for students in the campus. DSCE can boast of a spacious library with a area of about 4500 sqmtrs. It has exhaustive digital library with more than 100 computers. The library is also equipped with 39,500 volumes of books besides subscribing to international journals. The teaching learning process of the faculty is also audited by the committee of Senior Professors. Summarizing, state-of-art facility along with expert faculty are available at DSCE to ensure effective student participation. Beside academics, students are also encouraged to take part in extra circular and co-curricular activities and the students have brought laurels to the institution.
