Career Transition Services Gaining Ground in India: Randstad
New Delhi: Career transition services, which support people who have been retrenched from a company, have gained significant momentum in India due to the fluctuations in business environment in recent years, according to HR firm Randstad.
Career transition services, also known as out placement services, help retrenched people find a new role by reviewing their career, assessing their current situation, helping them with interview skills, it said.
Commenting on this trend, Randstad India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer E Balaji said the scope for career transition services in India is very big considering the high unemployment rates that is affecting people in this tough economy.
"We observe that 'Career Transition Services' or 'Out Placement Services' has gained momentum in India. Due to the fluctuations in business environment, companies in sectors which are strongly co-related to business cycles constantly realign their workforce to the demand for their products and services," Balaji said.
Balaji further added that some of the major sectors witnessing high traction for career transition services are technology, business services, engineering, chemical, logistics, telecommunication, and sports goods.
During downturns, owing to operational difficulties, a few companies tend to downsize their workforce. During such time many companies try to give the comfort of continued employment to the affected people by providing a chance to transition to a new job.
To achieve this, businesses approach HR services companies which specialize in Career Transition Services.
The HR services companies along with the client's HR team guide and help these "affected people" to suitable job opportunities.
Generally career transition teams comprise behavioral psychologists, experienced senior managers and case managers who are dedicated to helping organizations that are going through change and redundancy.
