Bangalore: AMD CEO, President and Director Dirk Meyer have resigned from the company and AMD's Senior Vice President and CFO Thomas Seifert has been appointed as provisional CEO. AMD is one of the largest makers of microprocessors around the world. Meyer's sudden resignation caught many in the industry off guard.
As per the reports, AMD is looking for a CEO who will oversee significant growth, establish market leadership and generate superior financial returns rather than just see AMD stabilized.
A CEO Search Committee has been formed to begin the search for a new CEO. The Committee is led by Bruce Claflin, Chairman of AMD's Board of Directors.
In a statement, the board's Chairman, Bruce Claflin, acknowledged that Meyer took the helm at a difficult time and "successfully stabilized" the company. The board, however, felt Meyer wasn't the right person to lead the company through its next phase of growth.
