Alcatel-Lucent appoints Rajeev Singh-Molares as President, APAC

New Delhi: Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Rajeev Singh-Molares as President of the Asia-Pacific region, replacing Sean Dolan. It will be effective on February 1, 2010. Molares is currently the Chief Strategy Officer for Alcatel-Lucent, responsible for identifying development opportunities, new areas of consumer interest, and new markets for industry expansion. In this role, he has been the leader in defining, communicating, and overseeing the execution of the company's new strategy - driven by its Application Enablement vision. "Rajeev is the perfect person to take our already strong relationships with service providers, enterprises and vertical markets throughout Asia Pacific to the next level - leveraging his strategic transformation expertise in working with customers to help them evolve their businesses and networks," said Ben Verwaayen, CEO of Alcatel-Lucent. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, Molares was a Senior Partner and Firm Director for the Monitor Group, a global professional services firm founded by Harvard professor, Michael Porter. During his 18 years at Monitor Group, he helped world and business leaders address complex strategic issues, including competitiveness, organizational structure, marketing, industry evolution and pressing social concerns. He worked with over 100 companies from start-ups with uncertain business models to established companies with tens of billions of dollars in revenues looking to redefine their models. He also worked extensively with Asia-based clients and has a deep understanding of the region, their unique growth challenges, and the cultural context within which they operate. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service in Washington, DC, and completed a Master's degree in international affairs at Yale University. He is a director of a variety of foundation and nonprofit boards. He is also a member of the World Economic Forum's Council on the Future of Mobile Communications where he works with industry colleagues to address global issues, including the challenges of digital inclusion in emerging economies, expanding broadband coverage, and ensuring viable business models
