ACJ Allies with The Weather Company to Introduce Future-Looking Weather Curriculum

Bangalore: Asian College of Journalism (ACJ), & The Weather Company, an IBM business,  in collaboration with RainWise, have locked hands to give a digital weather analysis curriculum to students, which will assist them to understand weather and its influence on people & the environment.

Students & staff members will have access to the Personal Weather Station (PWS) set up at the college by by RainWise, a manufacturer of professional grade meteorological equipment for various applications. Empowering students with on-site weather data, the PWS will adorn students with data to report weather with confidence, and empower them to have the most localized weather information available to interpret weather data for improved reporting & presentation. It will give weather conditions for an accurate location, and enable students to visualize the station data through graphs & dashboards

As India has started to see changing weather patterns that include serious weather perils which create tremendous economic losses and at times pose risk to lives, is imperative for such a curriculum to bring in the right information about weather at the right time. Hyperlocal weather reporting becomes significant in the event of severe weather conditions when life & property are at risk. The Weather Company allows broadcasters to choose from among the most advanced sets of weather data & visualization features to produce a winning weathercast.

This collaboration will support The Weather Company to contribute to the future of forecasting by educating and empowering young aspiring journalists with the most efficient means of interpreting weather data, drawing actionable insights and creating engaging content. Students will be exposed to weather forecasting & weather reporting with the expertise of meteorologists, climate experts & journalists.
