Worst Body Language Mistakes to Avoid During an Interview
Looking lazy or aggressive:
Leaning back suggests boredom or lack of interest, leaning forward can be just as problematic, as it can seem overly solicitous or even threatening. If you are going for an interview, aim for a neutral position, this way you will look alert and comfortable.
Last, but not least, ‘stop fidgeting.' It is advice to be taken seriously, as it is a sign of nervousness. The nervousness can distract the interviewer.
Breaking Eye Contact:
It is always better to try and hold the interviewer’s gaze for one extra moment before breaking away. Do this especially when you are shaking hands with the interviewers. Understand that you can communicate a lot through your eyes. Making solid eye contact with the interviewer is a key to connecting with him.
