Things To Know When Considering A Teaching Career
Trying For A Teaching Career?
When considering a teaching career, you are bound to step into either one or all of the options, Diploma in Teachers Education (D. Ted), Bachelor in Education (B. Ed) or/and Masters in Education (M. Ed).
Diploma and Bachelor courses extend over a period of two years while Masters Degree is just a one year course. On the other hand, the post for a principal requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree.
However, different institutions require different qualification and sometimes also a few years of teaching experience. In some minority institutions, principals are elected through staff or management vote.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for D.Ted one needs to have a minimal qualification of 12 standard. The requisites for B.Ed programme can take in any degree while a master degree in specializing in a particular subject essentially requires a B.Ed qualification.
However the post for college and university teaching demands a different approach. After the completion of B.Ed degree, one is required to clear the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) which would thereby grant the lenience to teach across India.
