TCS To Support Skill Development In ICT Sector

BENGALURU: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will help ICT Academy develop skills in the information and communications technologies (ICT) sector, the software major said on Thursday.

"The academy will use our iON digital hub platform to make its skill, vocational and competency-oriented courses made available to students and teachers across its institutes," said TCS in a statement here.

As a centrally-sponsored institute, the academy collaborates with state governments and industries like TCS to impart ICT skills among the youths.

"Our partnership will benefit students enrolled in the academy's 1,500 institutes across the country, to enhance their capabilities and employability," TCS global head V. Ramaswamy stressed in a statement here.

By hosting online, the academy would make the rich content accessible to students, constrained by learning through training centres in many locations.

The digital hub offers courses, assessments, communities and events. It is also an ideal platform for individuals who wish to pursue education on a self-learning pace.

"The collaboration will create opportunities for students by enriching their skills and making them industry ready while contributing to the government's 'Skill India' initiative," said Ramaswamy.

Lauding the IT major for deploying its platform, academy Chief Executive M. Sivakumar said the partnership would help the institutes to reduce the gap between the academia and the industry.

"As skill development is an important state initiative, we believe TCS will help us enhance the lives of students across the country," noted Sivakumar.
