South India Home To Top CBSE Schools; Chennai Tops the List

BENGALURU: Seven out of India’s top 20 schools are located in Tamil Nadu making the state top the list considering aggregates in Class-XII CBSE exams of this year.  Average aggregate marks of CBSE passouts of 2015 has been compared to prepare the top 20 Indian school list, as Times of India reports.

Chennai ranks first with the top three DAV schools coming up from here. The first place is taken by DAV Boys Sr Sec School, Mogap pair with 92.3percent in aggregate.

The second place has been taken by Bengaluru with number of schools being 5.

The entire south has put up a better show as 15 out of the 20 schools belong to this region.

Two schools from Kerala and one of Andhra Pradesh is also among the fifteen schools from South India who made it to the list.

Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram topped the list in terms of pass percentage for the second time after 2014.

The list of top 20 Indian schools includes both government and private education institutes. Two Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas run by the central government are plucked in the same list.

A senior CBSE official spoke- “These are not any kind of ranking but an indicator of how good the teaching process in these schools is.” He also said, “There schools may have higher number of students scoring 95percent and above, but the overall average is an indicator of how the whole batch has performed.”

States like Gujarat, Jharkhand, Haryana and Chandigarh entered the list with one school being in the top from each of the region.

Only one Delhi school, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, reached the list though a quarter of CBSE students root from here.
