Snapdeal Aims To Snap Up Executives From Google, Facebook
BENGALURU: Backed by Ratan Tata and Azim Premji, Snapdeal is planning to hunt down technology talent from Silicon Valley in order to build more impressive productive team of 1, 500 engineers who will be lead by extra ordinary leaders, reports The economic Times.
Snapdeal has decided to hire talents from companies that are the highest consumers of internet and technology such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and Salesforce. The Indian e-commerce player has chosen these companies as its resource since they have proven ability to reach a high scale and showcase a fast growth. It is expected that these talents will be drawn on pay packages of $1 million each, including stock options.
Rohit Bansal, the co-founder and COO of Snapdeal said, “We are at a point where we are running out of experienced talent in India. We have seen scale with respect to consumer internet products, but those products didn’t get built in India.”
According to Rohit Bansal, they are looking for talents that have witnessed the early stages of these great companies and are even responsible for 30x or 50x of its progress.
As per reports, Snapdeal has lately earned over 3,700 crore from Softbank and witnessed a business growth of 600 percent. It is expected that in future the company will come up with similar results. Hence, the technology department needs some special care.
The focus areas of technology on which Snapdeal is planning to work on are Big Data, analytics, supply chain management and mobiles. Snapdeal has planned to avail its app on all phones, reducing the use of computers for online shopping. With a mobile app, Snapdeal will be within the range of the customers, who can easily view the product details, scan the bar codes and easily access the site.
Taking a step towards a big development, Snapdeal has doubled its product strength and engineering division strength over last six months. The Delhi based firm opened a 300,000 sq ft of engineering development center in Bengaluru that can further be expanded to 500,000 sq ft.
