Seven Quirky Inverview Styles At Start Ups
BANGALORE: It’s not enough to be qualified in a particular skill; these days’ startups like to check if a person fits in with the overall culture of the company. To test this, they have come up with several quirky interview formats. The only thing that is common in all of them is that they are all unique. theeconomictimes.com has compiled a list of the new interview patterns:
The Persistence Test
Persistence is a quality that is needed to work in startups, where there is a push to do something new for the first time. To this end, Urban Ladder, a company that specializes in online furniture curation, admits to having a deliberately grueling process.
Before the face to face interview, there is a 45 minute long chat on the phone, where managers can assess the candidate’s communication skills and career goals to determine if they are a good fit. Then, trained experts test them on their problem solving skills, and this exercise lasts for six hours.
For engineers, there is a hacking exam. The company says that this preliminary stage sees high dropout rates. Candidates who have cleared these hurdles are scheduled for an interview a week later.
