Online Admission System to be Compulsory in Varsities by 2016
BANGALORE: Ved Prakash chairman of University Grants Commission requested to put into operation an online admission system for every program offered by educational institutions around the country from June-July, 2016 onwards. The circular has been issued to central and state varsities to put this into practice, reports ET.
Ved Prakash said, "This will not only ensure greater efficiency but also promote transparency in the functioning of institutions. It will also facilitate students and parents to make informed choices".
UGC also called for universities that have already employed online admission system to point out to its descriptor of software as well as state the process they’ve adopted for the online admission.
"If the admission is not done through online or if it is done partially, you may indicate the steps proposed by your university for converting it to the complete online mode from the academic session 2016-17," Ved Prakash added.
Once the new operation is carried out UGC will assess the implement online admission mode of these universities and mark the progresses achieved in the meet assembly on January 2016.
Bharat La l Meena, additional chief secretary for Higher Education in Karnataka cited that several colleges and universities in Karnataka have already adapted to the online admission system, wherein students are now enabled to download application forms as well as pay admission fees.
"We will implement online admission system at all the institutions in Karnataka by the end of next year," he said.
