Nasscom Certifies New Courseware For IT Skills

BANGALORE: Indian software industry's representative body Nasscom certified the courseware developed by the world's leading IEEE Computer Society to provide ready workforce for the IT and IT-enabled services sector.

"Our IT-ITeS sector skills council has approved the alignment of curricula developed by IEEE for five industry identified job roles and IT services qualification packs," National Association of Software Services Companies (Nasscom) vice-president Sandhya Chintala told reporters here.

As the world's leading computing membership organisation, the The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society has used Nasscom's curricula to design its courseware to reduce the skills gap for techies beginning their career.

"We aim to drive, scale and sustain a skill development initiative to build a ready workforce for the IT industry. The certification will make our students a currency for global mobility,a Chintala said.

The council is the skill standard setting and certifying body of the IT-ITeS industry under the state-run National Skill Development Council (NSDC).

"We are partnering with Nasscom to provide our time-tested education and training resources in furtherance of India's campaign to raise education and training levels for creating a new generation of skilled workforce," society's executive director Angela Burgess said on the occasion.
