NDA Government Set to Refurbish India's Education System

BENGALURU: Till today, Indian education system has been following traditional teaching and tests framework that involves rote learning for students. These obsolete teaching patterns are failing to encourage diverse skill developments in students hindering their chance to work in various professions. Recognizing these loop holes in the current education policies, NDA government is all set to bring key changes in the education sector soon, reports Firstpost.

The National Skill Development campaign led by Narendra Modi is a major step towards developing a skilled workforce and reformation of traditional education processes across India is the next step to take skill development mission forward. While speaking at the IndiaTV conclave event, Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani conveyed that the current textbooks teaches students about Renaissance concepts but does not include contribution of Maharana Pratap in India's history.

In the process of re-structuring National Education Policy, HRD department received recommendations from more than one lakh villages and thousands of municipal bodies. “We have prepared a document with the help of experts, including advice by education councils, to improve our education system. It will be unveiled in 15-20 days,” the HRD minister explained in an interview to All India Radio.

Irani also indicates that the new education policy will include launch of Bharatvani—a web portal for teaching disparate subjects in 22 Indian languages. Digitizing NCERT books, development of research parks supported by IITs, and collaboration with foreign universities are other priority tasks that HRD department is focusing on.

Additionally, to boost the Right to Education (RTE) initiative, the current government is applying elemental rules to bring the advantages of the RTE to the students that are allotted seats in private schools according to this Act. The NDA government is also inviting industry leaders to participate in the transformation of Indian education system to ensure students across India are well equipped to excel in the competitive work environment across the globe.
