NAAC Gives Green Signal to All 38 Deemed Universities That Had Been Blacklisted
BANGALORE: As per the recent reports, The National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) which is formed by the University Grant commission has given green signals to all 38 Universities that had been featured in the backlist in 2009 due to failing in attaining the set of quality parameters. As per the NAAC report which is been submitted to the Supreme Court, the committee have classified 17 out of 38 Universities in category A and only one University in the C level, reports Economic Times.
Last year the University Grants Commission (UGC) reports had given a nod to all of the Universities which had been marked in blacklist six years ago, excluding seven of them. But NAAC has been working on the issue and as per their recent report all the Universities are given a clean chit including these seven universities. According to the NAAC panel, Bharath University Chennai; Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Ambala and Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad fall under the category ‘A’ which says it’s very good. Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Institute of Science and Technology (PRIST) University, Thanjavur; Vinayaka Missions University, Salem; Academy of Maritime Education and Training, Chennai, and Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, Sardarshahr, Rajasthan were ranked under ‘B’ which says it’s good enough.
The C category of satisfactory had only Nehru Gram Bharti University in Allahabad. Dr S Vaidhyasubramaniam the dean of SASTRA University in Thanjavur stated that "With the Supreme Court accepting NAAC's new gradation, the human resource development ministry should instruct UGC to take all policy decisions based on NAAC accreditation and not the Tandon classification,”
