Manipal University, the Best in Research Category in India
Bangalore: Manipal Academy of Higher Education, one of the premier names for higher education in the country, has received the top honors in Scopus-based study published by SCImago Research Group, University of Granada, Spain, as reported by Pavan M V of TNN.
The Manipal, Karnataka based university, which conducted 2,762 research works in the recent past, occupied the top spot in research category among the non-government universities in India. The second spot in the list was taken by Vellore Institute of Technology with 1,183 research works, followed by Birla University of Technology with 911 research works.
There were 128 entries from India in the list of 3,290 world institutions, which included institutions from government, private, health, higher education and other sectors. Manipal Academy of Higher Education, which is also known as Manipal University garnered the 19th slot overall in India, 271st position in Asia and 1,118th in research works category globally.
As per the 2010 rankings released by the same group, Manipal University languished at 55th position in India and 425th slot in Asia.
