InMobi And Other Leading Firms Offer Their Stocks To Attract Talent
BANGALORE: Campus placements in India can testify to the arrival of new opportunities—employee stock preference.
Previously subjected to IIMs and IITs alone, many startups and top companies are coming forward and presenting their shares to new graduates in other B-Schools and engineering campuses in the country to bring in the top talent, reports ET.
Placement officers at engineering colleges testify that the trend is steadily catching fire. Samuel Rajkumar, dean of placements at Vellore Institute of Technology said, "InMobi and Endurance have offered stock options to candidates as part of their pay package."
Mobile advertising company, InMobi, has been constantly in the news for their unique methods of recruitment, maintained as well as for remuneration employees.
Director-HR of InMobi, Kevin Freitas said, "We offer Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), a variant of stock options, in campus hiring." It had made its appearance for recruitment in many IITs, VIT, BITS Pilani, PESIT, XLRI and several other institutions during this year.
"Our business is scaling so rapidly that people who join us are sure to benefit from these RSUs. We also provide RSUs as an incentive to employees who meet certain performance parameters. They can exercise these options at the time of listing of the company or in the event of a buyout," Freitas added.
FreshDesk, a California-based company with a major part of its employees dwelling in Chennai, is yet another corporation setting out, stock opportunities. Founder and CEO of FreshDesk, Girish Mathrubootham said, "We've started to offer stock options to people joining us fresh. We've made these offers at the time of joining for some candidates who were from ISB or NITs. For others, we wait and watch for six months to a year before offering them options."
According to the release LinkedIn and CII among others, the India Skills Report 2015 had anticipated a general rise of 23 pct in campus recruitment across top sectors in this year alone. The uphill course of recruitment has been drawing various talents for many companies. Innovative product and ecommerce companies that comprise of thriving startups are prowling for young professionals with the precise skills. New age companies are now turning their attention to young professionals as they are presenting them with stock options. These opportunities were offered only to IIT and IIM graduates in the past.
