Indians To Reign Over B-Schools In The U.S.
BANGALORE: 2015 is more likely to be marked as the breaking point for MBA candidates to top U.S. B-schools since the world’s top rated business schools admitted a large number of Indian applicants for the year 2017.
With the data gathered by ET from several agents which includes new admits, closed alumni groups, admission consultants appears to be in accurate then acceptance for Indian contenders has increased. Also there is a possibly that these applicants might receive more scholarships and financial aid from prominent institutes when in comparison to the previous year, reports The Business Insider.
According to a few alumni groups, the intake of Indian students have raised to 47 from were 40 in the previous year. In addition, several more Indian students have managed to get into schools like Wharton and Kellogg. For most U.S. B-schools the admission commences in July wherein the admission process is presently in the third round. The financial daily reported that the data collected from the alumni networks suggested that while Kellogg in the previous year had accepted around 30 Indian in the first two rounds, this year the intake cross over 40.
Although Wharton and Harvard did not confirm the validations, Kate Smith, Assistant Dean of Admissions and Financial at Kellogg School of Management affirmed that India is the central grounds for schools. "We have seen many strong applicants from this region," she said. The rise in number for Indian contenders in these schools do not include those Indian is based overseas.
"Overall, we saw a 20 pct increase in Indian admissions at most top B-schools. Our candidates received 107 offers to the top 15 schools, 80-plus to the top 10 and 20-plus to the top five," said Rajdeep Chimni, founder of the admissions consulting firm. He affirmed that the scholarships received this year by Indian applicants is a total 18.7 crore, which has surpassed the combined scholarship sum of the last two years that rounded up to Rs 11.75 crore.
