IT Resume Makeover: 10 Tips To Spice Up Your Resume
You can’t highlight being a teacher as your biggest achievement if you are looking to change career and jump to an IT job. Think about who you are trying to impress. Let go of the traditional systematic format of writing a resume.
Outdated resume is no resume: If you look at the world, the trends people follow and the kind of brands they prefer, it is those that are updated and relevant to the present. In the same way, your resume means nothing to recruiters if it is not updated. Make sure that your resume does not contain jobs that were done years back or even posts, jobs that are not relevant to the line of work you are applying to. Keep it fresh, updated because this shows recruiters your attitude towards the desire to secure the job.
Sell yourself well, not short: We are taught virtues of honor and humility from birth by our parents, but at times there is a need to put those virtues down and that time is on the resume. Learn to sell yourself with the best quality and never short of your talents because it will go a long way. Is it cheating? No its not. As long as your resume has legal, authentic and true information you are safe. Be sure to highlight unique skills, achievements in that particular skill or unique knowledge, practical skills because that will make your resume stand out from the rest.
Don’t Lie: The last thing you want while searching for a job is to be branded a cheater and a liar. We have all been taught to not lie from small; this life truth needs to be before you when writing out your resume.
