IT Companies With The Biggest Job Cuts

Bangalore: Previous year didn’t look pleasing for students who were preparing themselves to enter the professional world because these young enthusiasts were left high and dry with relatively no jobs.

Rubbing salt into the wounds of young grads was the economic downtime which left companies with no option other than cutting down on jobs to remain functional. With this in mind we have put together a list of companies with the highest job cuts, as listed by The Times of India.

BlackBerry

Job cuts: 4,750

Number of employees: 7,260 (September 2013)

Blackberry is an Canadian telecommunication and wireless equipment maker, who is famously known for its brand of smart phones and tablets.

Due to the intense competition from Apple’s iPhone and Google's Android brands, the company has in recent past declined steeply.

Blackberry who let of around 3,000 employees in 2012, were seen extending this number, when they laid off 250 in July this year. Thorstein Heins, CEO of blackberry said that it was part of a “complex transition”.  And in September, it further announced that it will give pink slips to another 4,500 employees.
