IITs Excel In QS BRICS University Rankings; Bag 5 Slots In Top 20
Bangalore: India has as many as 16 entries in "QS University Rankings: BRICS", which is the world’s first dedicated rankings for universities in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) group of nations, reports Kounteya Sinha of TNN.
The good news doesn’t end there. Five IITs have made it to the top 20. IIT-Delhi emerged as the highest ranked Indian institute in the list. It is slotted at 13th position. IIT-Delhi is closely followed by IIT-Mumbai, IIT-Madras, IIT-Kanpur and IIT-Kharagpur. These institutions are placed at 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th slots respectively.
China dominated the list with about 40 entries. This was followed by Russia and Brazil with 19 and 17 entries respectively. While Tsinghua University, China, garnered the top honors in the list.
The other Indian universities in the list include IIT-Rourkee (34), IIT-Guwahati (51), University of Calcutta (52), University of Delhi (53), University of Mumbai (62), University of Hyderabad (64), University of Madras (70), Banaras Hindu University (85), IIIT-Allahabad (92), University of Pune (94) and Manipal University (100).
