Hiring Demand For Sales Positions Increased In Feb: Survey
NEW DELHI: After three sluggish months, hiring gained pace in February with demand increasing for freshers in sales teams across consumer durables and FMCG sectors, says a survey.
According to TimesJobs RecruiteX, February brought some relief to the job market with sales professionals in FMCG and consumer durables witnessed an eight pct rise in demand.
Job creation growth, both in volume and value terms, is being driven mainly by tier-II cities as consumer demand increased significantly owing to a rising disposable income.
Businesses are expanding operations and moving into new geographies, leading to a rise in demand for fresh talent in non-metros, Times Business Solutions Head of Strategy Nilanjan Roy said, adding, "in addition, with the Union Budget's focus on increasing consumers' buying power, FMCG and consumer durables are increasing their sales teams, gearing up to service this growing demand, in February 2017".
The TimesJobs RecruiteX noted that consumer durables/FMCG industry posted an 8 pct rise in hiring activity in February 2017.
Retail sector also saw a 7 pct rise, construction sector posted a 6 pct jump, while the manufacturing industry reported a 4 pct rise in talent demand during the month.
The demand for professionals with less than 2 years of experience reported a rise of 4 pct during February 2017, while professionals with 5-10 years of experience witnessed a rise of 1 pct.
Those with 10-20 years of experience also saw a 4 pct rise in hiring during the month, while senior professionals with over 20 years of experience saw a 17 pct drop in demand.
