Delhi Students Protest, Seek Jobs
NEW DELHI: Scores of students and unemployed youths rallied here on Sunday to protest against the government failure to provide job opportunities to the Delhi University graduates.
Gathering under the banner 'Save youth, save nation', the protestors along with volunteers of NGO 'Umeed - A Drop of Hope' protested at the Jantar Mantar demanding that the Narendra Modi government fulfill the promises it made to the youth of the country before the 2014 elections.
"We are completely lost under this system. There is no clarity on anything. It has been more than a year since the new government came to power but nothing has been done to address the unemployment problem in the country," Umeed founder Shubhrajeet Gautam told IANS.
"The government talks big about 'Make in India' but who will make in India if the students are not given timely opportunities," Gautam said.
"We request Prime Minister Narendra Modi and HRD Minister Smriti Irani to address our issues as soon as possible so that we too can contribute in the success story of our country," Ankit Kumar, a graduate from Hans Raj College told IANS.
