April sees Rise in Hiring Activities Nationwide
BENGALURU: Hiring activities have increased by 14 percent in the month of April as per Naukri.com, reports Business Insider. This growth is the result of rise in hiring by sectors like IT-software, ITES, insurance, and pharma. In April 2016, the Naukri Job Speak Index was at 1,984, which is 14 percent higher than last year’s mark.
According to V Suresh, Chief Sales Officer of Naukri.com, job opportunity market is trying to sustain the growth achieved in past few quarters. He also mentioned that apart from fields such as ITES, IT, and BPO sectors like biotech and pharma are witnessing a growth of over 15 percent.
The report also depicts a decline in hiring for sectors such as banking and telecom, which had grown sustainably till December 2015. According to this report the demand for professionals in IT software arena has increased by 18 percent than April 2015. Similarly, recruitment of sales and business development personnel has seen 11 percent growth on year-on-year (Y-o-Y) basis. Furthermore, a huge rise of 40 percent is also observed in demand for professionals in Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES) as compared to same period last year. Demand for people in this field is witnessing a positive growth since November 2015.
In metro city category, Delhi-NCR tops the list with 42 percent of increase in hiring activities followed by Hyderabad and Chennai with 30 percent growth. Bengaluru and Mumbai have also reported 25 and 24 percent rise in the hiring respectively. Kolkata is the only metropolitan city to witness a decline of 3 percent this year than April 2015 in hiring activities.
