8-Digit Salaries Happen In India: Check The Executives Who Draw it

BANGALORE:  Eight digit salary might seem to be a dream but young Indians are actually achieving it.

India’s leading FMCG company, Hindustan Unilever (HUL) had 169employees taking home worth a crore paycheques in 2014. Whereas, the company’s closest competitor, ITC handed the same amount only to its 23 employees.

IT sector champs like Infosys handed eight digit salary to 123employees and Wipro to 70.

Most of these highly paid working professionals are under the age of 40. One such example is Srirup Mitra,33, settled in Mumbai, who is currently a category head in HUL. Other names in this- ‘Under 40 Crorepati Employee List’ are Hemant Bakshi and PB Balaji.

The HUL annual report of 2014 shows that these 169employees, who are only 1pct of the total workforce. Altogether they bagged a total of Rs 310 crore. Consequently,  HUL has the highest number of crorepati employees in India.

On this, Aditya Narayan Mishra, chief executive at CEIL HR Services comments, “For the kind of talent HUL looks for, the company has to pay top dollars as supply is limited and they have to retain them."

HUL is also called ‘CEO factory’ for adding more than 400 CEOs in the corporate world.

Nielsen Campus Track Business School 2015 survey reflects that HUL is the most preferred company for graduating batches since past four years. It’s also the dream company for young Indians across all sectors for 6th times a row.

Analysts say that salaries at HUL are dependent to the company's sales and profitability.

This year several e-commerce companies have rolled out jobs with salaries more than a crore. The company names in this genre are Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Ola, Uber, Quikr, CommonFloor, Yepme, OLX, Junglee, FashionAndYou, Hungama, BookMyShow, Jabong, Cleartrip and Lenskart.
