Energy systems: Energy Systems Engineering is a multidisciplinary programme that aims to meet the current and growing challenge of declining fossil fuel resources and the demand for alternative, renewable energy sources as a whole. The energy system program covers engineering knowledge and skills in areas such as energy generation, conversion, electrical power systems and energy management. It also enables individuals in understanding of the global and local impact of energy conversion, distribution in a system to influence public policy decisions in the long run. IIT Bombay hold the tag of starting a master's level programme in 1981 but the courses are now available as integrated BTech-MTech degree programme in Energy Systems Engineering. Many firms like Siemens Energy, BGR Energy Systems look for energy systems experts.
Robotics:  If not now, we all know that robots will play a greater part in providing services than what they do today. In fact creating robots might continue to be expensive and some high-end models might cost as much as an economy car but that doesn’t stop individuals from seizing the opportunity the profession has to offer in future. The coming together of electrical, computer and mechanical engineering principles has created a strong foundation for engineering in robotics. To justify that surgeries in healthcare are now assisted by robotic equipment for accuracy, invasiveness and high efficiency. Centres for research in mechatronics and robotics have been providing training to researchers and engineers at institutes that include IIEST at Shibpur, IIT Bombay and IIT Madras.
