BENGALURU: Passionate Engineers or engineering graduates always dream and aspires to land himself a high paying job in a ‘dream company’ – a list of Global giants who, apart from their brand name also offer the best possible work atmosphere, crowd and salary one can ask for. Of this relatively short list, Google is definitely among the top. But convincing Google to hire you is a monumental task as the company always brings in the best of the best. Compiled by Anushree Singh of BI, we take a look at a few skills that you can learn and hone, which might tempt Google into considering you as one of the best and a priced asset they must possess.    

Learning the basics

What Google and other big Software MNC’s look for in a candidate is their understanding of the basics of computers and coding. Not understanding the basics for a budding programmer is like not knowing the basics in Greek or Latin to a budding Scholar who aspires to excel in the field. In order to master the basics, one has to go through an introduction to computer science course, like the ones offered by Udacity and Coursera.

Developing your coding skills 
At Google, coding skills are in high demand as they are an integral part of development, testing and any other process involved with the creation andupgrade of softwares. An understanding of at least one programming language makes an impressive addition to land you a job at Google. Incidentally,coding jobs pay significantly more than average jobs, so the talent pool is critically viewed at during the selection process.

Testing the compiled codes
Apart from just teaching you the basics of computers, Udacity apparently helps you to test your newly learnt and developed codes. This again is a very important aspect of the course since Google expects its engineers to be highly competent in catching bugs, creating tests, and breaking through software and you need some type of IDE to code new files and save them for deployment.
