They are itinerant and spend a majority of their time on field, communicating to people from different walks of life and occupations. And their job description includes an entire range of functions, starting from revealing emergent stories to getting the information to the respective media outlet.

This is a profession that demands a lot of thankless hard work behind the screen. To survive and thrive in this line of work, one should be ready for extensive working hours, relatively lower pay and most of all, plenty of stress and deadlines. 

As per the PayScale website, the approximate median salary for a professional in this line of work is 4.17 lakh. But a majority of professionals in this field draw a meager salary of around 2.40 lakh.
