69 Pct of Young Talent in India Favors Flexible Work Environment: Survey

BENGALURU: Employees in India are looking forward to work with organizations, who offer vitalizing inducements such as competitive salaries and linear career paths. They want to have a perfect balance between their personal and professional lives. According to a survey done by Kelly Services reveals that 69 pct of talent in India sees flexible work arrangements as positively impacting work-life balance, which exceeds the global average of 63 pct, reports ET.

The survey also suggests that work-life balance is highly valued in the Asia-Pacific region. 77 pct of workers believe that it as an important consideration in deciding where to work. In India, workers nominated different elements that they considered important to achieve work-life balance. The key findings include flexible work schedules and arrangements such as working remotely or telecommuting (69 pct), limitations/restrictions on working outside typical business hours (45 pct), wellness programs such as on-site fitness centers, health club memberships, and stress-reduction programs (41pct) and a fostered environment of friendships in the workplace (34pct). In India, Workplace flexibility is now a priority for both women (77 pct) and men (69 pct) who want a job that fits in with their own personal needs.

Based on the findings from the survey, Kelly suggests employers should consider the following to foster a work-life design mindset: make flexibility the norm, encourage downtime, ensure the work is meaningful, help keep skills current, create a culture and brand to be proud of and provide lifestyle support options.
