61pct Indian Women Confident Of Equal Earning: Survey
BENGALURU: 61percent of Indian women are confident about equal earning with the men counterpart and the same portion believes that they can have families without distorting their professional life.
Findings from a poll conducted by Thomson Reuters Foundation and Rockfeller Foundation, also brings bring out the top five issues of concern among women employees in G20 countries. They are- physical or emotional harassment, equal career opportunities, work-life balance, equal pay, and maternity impact on career.
27pct of Indian women complained work harassment of which 53pct said that they always report or file a complaint on that.
On a global platform, in par with other countries like Russia, South Korea, China and Japan, Indian women regard work life balance as their biggest challenge.
At the second place, 42pct of Indian women brought concern and worry over flexible working.
40pct of the survey felt accessibility to jobs is much easy for men in India.
Indian women generally do not speak up. However this survey brought out a scenario that none was concerned about. On this CEO Monique Villa of Thomson Reuters Foundation comments, "Five years ago, most women would not have spoken up. It shows how perceptions can change very quickly."
While percentages reveal the negativities faced by Indian women in the professional industry, positives too can be derived from the same.
Confident Indian women, open to speak about both professional and personal grounds came upfront where they spoke about equal opportunities with men, work life balance and so on.
