6 Strange Jobs That No Longer Exist Today

Human Alarm Clock
Human alarm clock operator also known as a knocker-up was a popular profession  in England and Ireland during the Industrial Revolution, as the alarm clocks in those days were not affordable or reliable.
A knocker-up's used a heavy stick to knock on the clients' doors or a long and light stick often to reach windows on higher floors. These guys would not leave a client's window until they were sure that the client had been awaked. In return, the knocker-up would be paid a few ransom of money a week. Some of these jobs were carried out in large numbers especially in industrial towns, but now that we have various ways and kinds of alarm clocks to keep our self’s up, the job has basically dried out and no longer exist.
