5 Nation With Highest Disparity In Pay

#1 South Korea: With a gap of 39 percent earning between men and women, South Korea shows the largest difference among the developed countries. The gap is calculated on the gross earnings of full-time wage and salary workers, according to research by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.  One of the primary reasons for the gap is the child penalty levied against women because of pregnancy and child care issues. In fact after a stint on maternity leave, Korean women are not entitled to the same benefits as male full-time staff. The other factor that adds to its woos is childless women earn just 13 percent less than men. The gap rises to 45 percent for women who have children. Korean women are traditionally expected to abandon their careers after marriage or while starting a family. With Some 75 percent of men are in paid work, compared with 53 percent of women, this suggests that women encounter difficulties in balancing work and family life and tend to go with low paid jobs.
