22 universities in the country are in the name of Gandhi, out of which 8 are named after Mahatma Gandhi, 8 after Rajiv Gandhi, 5 after Indira Gandhi and 1 after Sanjay Gandhi.

While 11 universities are named after Dr. BR Ambedkar and 8 varsities are in the name of Jawaharlal Nehru.

3,000 Crore University

The most recent university set up in the state of Bihar through an Act of Parliament, Nalanda University, is built with a budget of 3000 crore. This money is equivalent to the funds of 3 IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) or 5 IISERs (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research).

Language Universities

21 universities in the country are dedicated to specific languages, out of which 14 universities are dedicated to imparting Sanskrit, 2 for Hindi, 2 for Urdu, and 1 each for Telugu, Tamil and English.
