49th World Employment Conference To Be Held in India

BANGALORE: India is about to witness its first Ciett World Employment Conference (WEC) hosted by Indian Staffing Federation (ISF), an apex body of flexi staffing industry in India. India won the bid to host the conference in Asia, reports Business Standard.

"This event is a great means to showcase India as an emerging talent powerhouse, building the confidence of investors across the globe who are waiting to reap dividends in the country through their investments here," said Rituparna Chakraborty, President, ISF.

According to a report, there has been a massive surge of 20 percent in the Indian workforce since 2013. The workforce rose to 397.4 million in 2013 and 3 million employees made it to the formal sector. Furthermore, the formal sector workforce has witnessed an increase of 7.2 million in the same period. However, the sector still need to revive when skills and talent is concerned. This conference looks hopeful that is expected to bring opportunities to Indians to showcase their talent to the employment industry globally.

ISF further revealed that every year 12 million of the population tries its luck in the labor market but less than 10 percent could actually fetch jobs.

Recently, Indian youth is being offered formal jobs at National Career Counseling portal which already has crossed 3, 52,482 registered jobseekers where maximum registrations were made from the state of  Madhya Pradesh at 1,67,485.
