33 percent increase in ISB placement, salaries up 11 percent

Hyderabad: Following the economic recovery, the companies back in the hiring mode and it is a successful placement year for the students of Hyderabad based Indian School of Business (Indian School of Business) with a 33 percent increase in offers and 11 percent increase in domestic salaries.
The business school has secured 541 offers including 65 international, from 346 companies for its batch of 2010, which graduated in April. The average salary of an ISB student this year is
16.7 lakh as against the
15.5 in 2009. The batch of 2010 has strength of 579 students, their work experience ranging from 2 to 20 years.
For this year, the technology, consulting and finance sectors have been the main recruiters, with the number of offers made by top 10 companies in these sectors has risen by 116, 40 and 30 percent, respectively, over last year. ISB also witnessed a spurt in the companies from 'Green Energy' sector, while firms from pharma, healthcare, infrastructure, real estate, media and energy sectors recruited a significant number of ISB students.
In international placements, several students were offered Global Leadership Programmes in Italy, Hong Kong, UK, Switzerland, Germany and Singapore in areas of financial services, pharmaceuticals, aviation, information technology, agri-business and luxury goods.
ISB usually announces the placement results in April, but for the past two years, it has been extending the placement season by about three months to let maximum number of students bag the jobs.
Announcing the placement results, Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB, said he was humbled by the confidence reposed by companies in ISB. "Our students come with a rich and diverse experiences and their transformational year at the ISB has helped them boost their capabilities and move along their chosen career paths," he said.
ISB did not reveal the average international CTC offered to the students.
