3000 More Job Opportunities Likely To Be Created

KOCHI: At least another 3,000 new job opportunities are likely to be created in the next two years at Infopark Thrissur, with the completion of a new 3.3 lakh square feet IT block by March next year, Infopark Chief Executive Officer Hrishikesh Nair said.

The Infopark at Thrissur is being developed as one of the two satellite centres of Infopark Kochi. Major expansion plans by startups and mid segment-IT firms at the campus are also fuelling the growth of the park, which is situated amid the lush green surroundings of Koratty.

Currently, the park houses 29 companies with around 600 employees. The facility- Kerala's first satellite centre set up under the Hub and Spoke model of Infopark Kochi - boasts of higher employee retention rate than similar parks in other metropolitan cities.

"It is encouraging to see that the companies are expanding and are looking for new growth avenues. The work on the new 3.3 lakh sqft IT block is progressing and it is expected to be ready for operations by March 2015," Hrishikesh Nair said.

"The park has received around dozen advance bookings for office space at the new building which, when completed, will generate an additional 3,000 plus employment. A gymnasium, a women's hostel and other recreational facilities are also in the pipeline inside the campus," he added.

"The Infopark brand, the park's proximity to Cochin International airport and the national highway are the major factors that drew us to establish business here," said Hari Krishnan, Co-founder of ZineMind Technologies Private Limited, a software developing firm catering to some of the big names in the business world like Siemens, Bosch and Bombardier.

"We are happy to be at the park here as the authorities provide all support and it has the best-in-class infrastructure. We started at the park as a startup firm and now have a turnover of 1.2 crore," Abin Jose Tom, Chief Executive Office of Web and Crafts, said.

"Thrissur has a lot of engineering colleges and we have been able to get right people," Mohanakannan P K, Business Head of Nuvento Systems Private Limited, said.
