Chennai: The organized sector has added 11.3 lakh jobs in India in the calendar year 2010. Since the previous peak in 2006 with 10.3 lakh jobs, it is the best in the last four years, reports Ishan Srivastava of The Times of India. These employment figures have been revealed by the MaFoi Randstad Employment Trends Survey. In the history of the survey, the number of jobs added went past the 10 lakh mark in 2006 and 2007. In the year 2008, there were only 6.7 lakh jobs added, where in 2009 the number of jobs added went up to 9 lakh, said K Pandia Rajan, Managing Director of Ma Foi Randstad. According to Dhananjay Bansod, Chief People Officer of Deloitte India, the economy is booming and companies are building up capacity in anticipation of future growth. They are also compensating for the lull in recruitment experienced in the past few years and trying to address the problem of unused capacity, he added. It was the healthcare sector with an expected GDP spend of 8 percent by 2012 from 5.5 percent in 2009 that has created maximum jobs in year 2010 by generating 2.60 lakh jobs.
