A park ranger or forest ranger is a person entrusted with protecting and preserving parklands on the basis of national, state, provincial, or local parks. These individuals are basically employed by the government and entitled to range through the countryside providing law and order, and most importantly act upon poaching and smuggling. This profession includes a number of disciplines and specializations, and park rangers are often required to be proficient in more than one.
