Typos can be a real hindrance if there are errors in it. Your application will certainly land itself in the reject list if you do not take proper measures to avoid it. "Your communication skills are perceived according to how well the letter is written," said Tina Nicolai, executive career coach and founder of Resume Writers' Ink. "If a typo or grammatical error is present, the reader may think you were 'too busy' or lazy to check your work or don't care enough about this job to take the application process seriously. Or worse, they'll think you just don't know how to spell." said Nicolai.

One must also be cautious about relying on spell check, as it is not always accurate. Have a friend look over the cover letter before submitting it to the employer.
