10 Indian Universities Breach The Elite 100 Club Among Emerging Nations

Bangalore: India has secured 10 of the top 100 places in Times Higher Education's BRICS and Emerging Economies Rankings 2014 list published recently. The list comprises of universities from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, as well as 17 other budding economies. China comes into view as the favorite in the rankings with 23 institutions in the table followed by Taiwan (21) and India in terms of maximum representatives on the list. Only 22 countries managed to get a position in this less significant, more level-playing turf, reports Sreeradha D Basu of ET Bureau.

In a statement Phil Baty, Editor of Times Higher Education Rankings said that "India’s inclusion is a positive sign; only China and Taiwan have more universities in the top 100. It indicates India’s genuine potency in contest with countries that provide flaxen comparisons."
