BANGALORE: Many pursue MBA programme to bag a lucrative job. Off late, the trend has shifted. Students are now skipping college placements to plan their own business ventures. Even though MBA is a very hot topic nowadays, a growing number of students are opting for part time MBA programs, which give the opportunity to pursue the degree while working full time. And the other strong reason for this change is that MBA students graduating from leading business schools often landed with salaries close to six figures, but in today's tough job market not all fresh MBA grads are getting the opportunity on earning enough to pay back their education loans, reports Times of India.
According to the survey conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council, 45 percent of the alumni who graduated between 2010 and 2013 favored self-employment, which is double the percentage of their seniors in the 2000-2009 period. However, the council holds the authority to conduct the GMAT exam for admission to more than 6,000 graduate management programmes worldwide.
