MBA's And IIT'ians Are The New Batch Of Indian Smart'Cops


BENGALURU: From one of the IITs or top-notch medical and MBA schools, there is new team of cops who solve all the policy issues with the help of technology. They apply innovative ideas to prioritize ignored sectors using the lessons they learnt in college.
These cops, in the IPS have given up on the money-minting career and opted to serve the country, reports TOI.

The IPS batches these days have less than 40 percent of its officers with minimum of 10 years of experience. Moreover, most of the officers are from engineering, medical or MBA backgrounds and believe strongly in PM Modi’s concept of smart policing.

Some of the innovative initiatives, leading to great success are
-- In Karnataka, specially designed software was used to quickly trace stolen vehicles and find owners of impounded ones.
-- In Gujarat, police stations were digitally connected for faster sharing of information on criminals.
-- In Delhi, e-beat books were implemented to maintain databases of all influential and opinionated people in an area for quick dissemination of information during communal unrest.
-- In Ghaziabad, a comprehensive drive to trace missing children.

The highlight is the launch of a social media initiative to bring about seamless communication between police and public that was made by DCP, with Bangalore police, Abhishek Goyal, an IIT alumnus. This launch made him get hold of the ISIS follower Mehdi Masrur Biswas.
