"Condensed" Degree Programs Attract Students From Across The Globe
Bangalore: While the falling rupee is making Indians give a second thought on oversees education, there are quite a few Institutions abroad that are introducing new scholarships and flexible academic options for foreign students. This new proposal is forcing many Indians to reconsider their thoughts, reports M Ramya for The Times of India.
Many universities in New Zealand have initiated ‘condensed’ master's programmes. "They will have to cover the same content in a shorter time. Students signing up for a two-year master’s course may be allowed to complete it in 12 to 18 months," said Ziena Jalil, regional director, South Asia for Education New Zealand.
Australian institutions too are allowing several students to opt for a compact course. Students will be given the opportunity to apply for a credit subject exemption based on their prior learning experience in the same or similar subjects. On the other hand, other learners will have to dedicate longer work days towards meeting the credit requirements. Sometimes, students are allowed to sacrifice their three-month long Christmas vacation for the completion of the course.
