'Workplace' Does It Just Belong To Men?

BENGALURU: An office comprises of people from different parts of the world. Be it age, race or geography, diversity prevails in every work sector. Among work diversification, the difference based on gender is the most common that fosters a tension in the atmosphere, reports Times of India.
A balance between the genders is very much essential at work places. The number of working males is too large than that of the female workers and this gives rise to the thinking that may be women are less talented or less educated than the men. It is highly shameful that at some places people say it mockingly that in order to lead or be the ‘boss’ one should have a moustache.
This fixed mindset leads one to think of women as an inefficient work race. As a result they do not entrust women with any responsibility. This huge misunderstanding hampers both the work of a man and a woman. Before jumping into conclusions, they should give women a chance to come out with extraordinary results. The conservative thinking of considering any job as a man’s job should be changed. The office harboring such employees must arrange some sessions to clear this myth and should appreciate the calibers of both male and female employees.
Not only the number but the position assigned to the particular gender even sets a verdict in the minds of workers. In an office, where women employees are promoted to higher positions and are given huge responsibilities, this discrimination does not prevail. It stops the masculine ego coming in the way of work.
It is very important to maintain a healthy gender ratio in any work organization, both for the employees and the company concerned. As Saba Adil the head of AEGON Religare Life Insurance Corporation said, “Good gender diversity is always healthy for organizations as it allows companies to get the best talent available in the talent pool and create a work atmosphere that is more inclusive, considers more viewpoints, perspectives and sharing of ideas, leading to more innovation, better solutions and better performances.”
